the coaching journey
I started playing goalie at age 13 and immediately fell in love with the position. I spent the next 5 years playing youth hockey and honing my skills with very little goalie coaching or resources but driven by a passion for the game and a fierce level of competitiveness. I was recruited to an NCAA D1 team but quickly realized that I would not see the ice nearly as frequently as I wanted. with only 4 years of college hockey to play there was little time to waste. I made a promise to myself that I would always pride myself on contributing to the team as a leader with a strong work ethic and with on-ice results.
I made the difficult decision to leave the team and return to my AAA team hoping that something better would be on the horizon. I was quickly recruited to play NCAA D3 with Adrian College during their inaugural season and was the starting goalie for their first 3 seasons from 2007-10.
Of all the awards and accolades throughout the years the opportunity to build a college program and contribute from the ground-up and to see it grow into the competitive team that it has been for nearly a decade now is what I am most proud of. After graduating I have continued to play competitively in women’s hockey and coach whenever the opportunity presents itself. I have coached at regional camps with USA Hockey and with girl’s high school programs (Northville, Cranbrook, Gross Pointe South), as well as various other teams. I continue to run my own goalie clinics and women’s hockey clinics and am always happy to help a fellow goalie out.
